GENERAL INFORMATION

The City of DeLand (the City) and DeLand Municipal Airport (DED or the Airport) is updating the Airport’s master plan which was last completed in 2014.The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) recommends that airports update their master plans approximately every 5 to 10 years. The Master Plan Update will reflect updated projections of airport activity, recommendations for new facilities to meet anticipated demand, consideration of environmental and other regulatory constraints, and a plan for appropriate mix of land uses to support projected aviation and non-aviation needs.

WHAT IS AN AIRPORT MASTER PLAN?

An Airport Master Plan is a process that comprehensively studies the short, intermediate, and long-term development needs of an airport and develops plans to meet future aviation demand. The elements of a master plan vary in complexity and level of detail, depending on the size, function, and issues of the individual airport. The overall goal is to prepare a document that guides future airport development that will cost-effectively satisfy aviation demand, while considering potential environmental and socioeconomic impacts.
