[ARCHIVED] Annual Tree Giveaway set for April 29

The City of DeLand is proud to partner with the DeLand Breakfast Rotary Club to host its annual Tree Giveaway.

This year’s event will be held from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29 at the DeLand Public Services Complex, 1102 South Garfield Avenue. Residents are invited to come and pick up three trees per residence/six per vehicle while supplies last. A variety of species are available this year, including Bald Cypress, Elderberry, Live Oak, Persimmon, Southern Red Cedar and Yellow Poplar. Loquat, Silky Dogwood and Snowbell are also available in limited quantities.

Residents must bring proof of residency in order to participate in the giveaway. The event is open to all residents within the DeLand Utility Service Area and is a great opportunity for those looking to add some greenery to their landscape.

“I would like to encourage all of our residents to take advantage of this opportunity and help beautify our city one tree at a time,” said Mayor Chris Cloudman.
