Technical Rescue Team

The DeLand Fire Department currently participates in a three-agency Type II Technical Rescue Team (TRT-532). The team is composed of members from the DeLand Fire Department, Deltona Fire Department, and the Orange City Fire Department.

This team is specially trained in response to technical rescues such as:

  • Trench/Excavation Rescue
  • Rope/High Angle Rescue
  • Confined Space Rescue
  • Vehicle and Machinery Rescue
  • Building Collapse Rescue
  • Cell/Communication Tower Rescue
  • Hazardous Material Response

For department members to join the team, they must have completed over 250 hours of specialized training in the categories listed above. Training for these types of special incidents is focused on regularly. Members from all three departments meet monthly to train on different types of rescues to ensure that we’re ready in the event of a real emergency.
